Friday Favorite 1-6-12

Smashingly Trendy

Twice a Year Nordstrom in Garden State Plaza celebrates the newest season with its Runway Glitz and Glam Extravaganza. Clients race through the doors when the clocks strike 7:30am for a runway show of the seasons hottest trends in skincare, hair and makeup.  Following the 45 minute-ish show clients bum rush the escalators to get themselves to the cosmetics floor so they can be the first ones to get their makeup done and reap the rewards of the limited stock on Holiday items available for purchase, as well as a touch up or a full blown makeup transformation.

This year I was lucky enough to be there with my favorite cosmetic Brand,Smashbox, sharing my ah-ha moment when I tried their new foundation - Studio Skin Foundation.  Not to change subject from Trend Show to my own personal product excitement, but WOW!  I put this foundation on at 8:30am and set it with their new Studio Finish Pressed Powder. Well I just washed it off and it looked amazeballz right up until the cleanser hit my skin.  This foundation has the perfect medium coverage with a flawless silky finish.  Clearly it lasts all day, and lets minimal shine through as the day goes on.  When I tell you it was warm in there, believe me - 300+ people in a cosmetic department, newly renovated with additional counters that are packed with counter staff and a pose of artists and their estimated 50+ appointments per line....gasp.....it was HOT!

If you haven't had the pleasure of attending one of these Shows/Events you are truly missing out.  Samples, exclusives, makeup and hair - ps, Sultra did hair...oh it was wonderful!!!
